Community Shares Survey A few of use got together last night (let's call ourselves The Friends of the Ivyhouse) to discuss ways of saving this lovely building and the people and events associated with it. It was very clear from the array of talent, experience and passion both in the Ivy house last night and through the various forums that all is not lost. Indeed, this threat may mean that the Ivy House doesn't just survive but prosper. I for one couldn’t believe the amount of talent, experience and contacts my neighbours have (we are quite an unassuming lot after all!). If you were going to hand pick a 'team' to save a pub - you couldn't do much better believe me! That’s just the tip of the iceberg: offers of support and assistance continue to flood in. "CAMRA's London Pubs Group was alerted by the Victorian Society on Wednesday morning, and dispatched Dale Ingram, their historic buildings and planning member, a veteran of several successful 'save the pub' campaigns, who is now supporting the campaign with advice."Anyway, 'we' are exploring a number of different possibilities including forming a Community Trust and bidding to buy the Ivy house for the community! Interested, excited? Long way to go and just testing the water but IF there was shares available to buy in the Ivy House (say from £1 upwards - no minimum investment) would anyone be interested? If you are curious please fill out the survey. Lot to look into but it would probably be non profit making, any 'profit' to be put back into the pub and used to run community events! (or there could be an option of a dividend back to shareholders to repay the initial outlay). Think this is pie in the sky and a result of too many hours in the Ivy House? Think again. It's less that 48 hours since we heard of its closure. Already we have over 1,000 Facebook followers and we have serious interest from an individual to donate an extremely generous and substantial amount into this venture. Watch this space! Obviously, this is just doingsome market research so however you respond is not binding or you or 'us' http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/5HWTJKR
Thanks to all who have filled in the survey and expressed interest in a community owned pub. We are working on a plan and will keep you updated!
@Save_Ivy_House: Working hard on investment and business plans. Keep in touch - we need your support, and should be able to share some good news very soon.
Hi all, What's the latest on the Ivy House? We've been badgering the chap from the Gowlett, but he says he's not interested...
I happen to have spoken to one of the FriendsoftheIvyhouse yesterday. Apparently negotionations are happening between the vendors and a would be purchaser who has the intention to reopen the venue. Nothing is done and dusted yet. I have been told that an update will be posted on their facebook page once more is known. Renata
Well, well, well - The Ivy House is back on Time Out The people's pub: locals buy the Ivy House pub in Nunhead
Exciting news from the front... Our application for grant finance to help us buy the pub has been successful! This is a huge step forward for the Ivy House and brings us closer to securing this landmark building as London's first co-operative pub, hub and performance space. But we still need your help! Thanks for your support to date, we will keep you posted and please come along to Pull The Other One's Ivy House benefit gig on Friday 15th February at the Tenants' Hall, Peckham Rye - further details of which are on the savetheivyhouse group Facebook page and the Ivy House Pub and Hub website (ivyhousenunhead.com) ...and on the Nunhead events section of this Forum!
